Program Manager
(Location : Kl / Pj / Tpm Cyberjaya )

Description


The Program Manager is a very senior member of the Project Management team. A Program Manager will have more than ten years of experience in delivering projects using a recognised disciplined method, accompanied by at least five or more years experience delivering I.T services in a customer facing role. A Program Manager typically manages major or critical projects, or large and often complex programs. A Program Manager will have in-depth knowledge of Project Management practices and methods, and advanced Project Management and business skills.

Qualifications

Qualifcations
Bachelors degree in IT, Engineering, or Business Management preferred but not mandatory
Completion of PMPM training (for internal candidates)
Record of completing advanced Project Management training
Record of completing advanced business skills training
Industry related professional accreditation (PMP)

Experience

15+ years of related IT services experience
Has proven track record of successfully managing intermediate, large, and critical projects — has completed 2-3 major projects / programs with combined budget (labour, capital, & expenses) between $AU1,000,000 and $AU5,000,000
Effectively managed large teams in a highly matrixed organization
Key personal characteristics:
- Strong leadership skills — ability to provide vision, motivate, mentor, and manage project team members and other project managers in a single project or multi facet program; ability to interact effectively with senior client and CSC management
- Strong presence — commands respect through presence and actions; often deferred to for advice or decisions, leads discussions but is a very effective listener
- Composure — is cool under pressure, does not become defensive or irritated when times are tough, can be counted on to hold things together, is a settling influence in a crisis
- Strong ability to manage and measure work — clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions; sets clear objectives and measures; monitors process; progress and results; designs feedback loops into work
- Achieves challenging objectives — The ability to meet tight schedules and cost targets without compromising customer requirements
- Key negotiator — fully competent in effective stakeholder management techniques; can negotiate skilfully in tough situations; can settle differences with minimum of noise; can win concessions without damaging relationships; ability to work with and persuade disparate groups; can be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic; has a good sense of timing
- Authority — fully competent in managing senior I.T professionals, experienced in managing personnel
- Influencing others — can influence outcomes with subtlety and tact, achieving positive outcomes, sometimes under complex and difficult circumstances; capable of influencing managers and senior managers
- Effective mentor — can be considered a good role model for junior project managers; capable of providing effective and timely mentoring; fully conversant in CSC project methodology and process
- Strong ability to problem solve — use of rigorous logical methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; can see hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and doesn’t stop at the first answers; effectively uses post implementation reviews and identifies and applies lessons learnt
- Builds effective teams — creates strong morale and spirit in the team; fosters open dialogue; lets people finish and be responsible for their work; defines success in terms of the whole team; can effectively communicate business requirements to project teams
- Financial acumen — has a well developed understanding of finances (advanced at project level and knowledge at an operational & business level); has well developed skills in managing project budgets and project profitability, effective at managing project finances at the Program level
- Contract Knowledge — has a strong understanding of business contracts, legal and contract compliance
- Flexibility — ability to multi-task, adapt to change, and manage a fast-paced, high-stress environment; ability to think outside the square; can effect change quickly
- Hands-on — willingness and ability to work the details; demonstrated ability with implementing and managing project disciplines
- Communications — excellent English language and business writing skills. Skilful presentation skills; appropriate used of formal and soft communication skills.
