Responsible for supporting the hardware/software infrastructure of a large banking environment. Acts as a systems support of hardware/software on Midrange Open systems. Involves analyzing, planning and implementing new approaches and solutions for the environment and supporting existing infrastructure.
Acts in a high-level technical role as a support for major computer applications utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process. May act as project/team lead.
Qualifications
•
Designs and develops integrated solutions through tools, processes, and procedures to facilitate the cost effective delivery of engineering services. Provides planning, analysis, and development of system upgrades and user interface design solutions to complex human factor problems. Develops validation schemes and performs testing and integration and maintenance.
•
Escalates problem resolution of computer environments, systems, subsystems, and components.
•
Monitors, investigates, and resolves system operation issues in accordance with standard procedures; documents and communicates resolution. Tracks industry trends and technical developments.
•
Analyzes potential system investments and prepares supporting documentation for recommendation(s) to management and customers.
•
Bases results on independent assessment of current and future performance, stability, and systems management/life cycle issues.
Experience/Skills
•
5 or more years supporting AIX Systems with Infrastructure Architecture and Design
•
Development/Testing/Implementation of Unix Scripts (Korn and C Shells)
•
Strong Oral and written communication skills -Installation and setup of AIX O/S from scratch
•
Demonstrated ability to tune Unix system software and make recommendations for performance changes to CPU, memory and I/O;
•
Familiar with Performance monitoring tools such as VMSTAT, SAR, IOSTAT, TOPAS and others. -
•
Experienced with supporting HACMP, SNA, HMC, LVM, SAN and other system management tools.
Nice to Haves:
•
Systems Capacity Planning Experience
•
Skilled in SAN environments and various storage management systems such as Veritas NetBackup
•
Experienced in supporting SSH, SUDO, BOS, ZENA and XCOM
•
Experienced in supporting databases e.g. Oracle, DB2 and Sybase.
•
Experienced in supporting MQ Series and Websphere
Skills Desired
- Experience in data trend interpretation and performance metrics.
- Experience providing customer support to a large customer base is desired. Education / Equivalent
Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field of study.
- Must have more than 5 years of directly related experience
Unique Requirements
This position requires the System Administrator to be part of an on call rotation. System Administrator will serve in a 24x7 on-call rotation. As a member of Systems Support group odd hours may be required on occasions.
