Provide Level 3 support for UNIX (including
Linux) in a large, complex, multi-vendor,
enterprise computing environment.
Act as the highest level of escalation point
within Hewlett-Packard in supporting arising
incidents. Perform issue trouble-shootings
and provide accurate and timely resolutions.
Expect to interact heavily with Applications
and other Infrastructure/Platform teams
globally.
Implement systems by providing solutions and
appropriate support recommendations to
customers, including hardware specifications
for servers, storage and network components.
Strive to achieve optimum scalability,
availability, reliability and performance to
all managed devices.
Address Disaster Recovery requirements, and
ensure Business Continuity through
deployment of clustering and fault-tolerance
technology.
Proactively provide solutions from escalated
incidents from the Level 1 & 2 engineers and
follow-up coaching.
Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides
and other documentation for ongoing
operations support. Ensure systems
configurations are always updated.
Continuously improve the customers' ITIL/ITSM
processes such as Incident, Problem
Management, Capacity and Configuration
Management.
Manage multi-cultural customer environment
with globally installed base.
Opportunities to participate and lead new
support environment during new customer
on-boarding.
Specific Requirements Certifications
•
Certified Unix Administrator ( HPUX, Sun Solaris or Linux)
•
HP Certified HPUX SNA 1 and/or SNA 2 will be preferred.
Experience
•
Bachelor Degree in IT - Minimum of 5 years experience within IT Operations, infrastructure services support (Systems and Network management), operations monitoring and end user support
OR
•
Diploma in IT - Minimum of 6 years experience within IT Operations, infrastructure services support (Systems and Network management), operations monitoring and end user support
AND
•
Minimum of 4 years in-depth technical knowledge of either of the applicable technology area: HPUX, Solaris, Network management and HP OpenView Products. Must be able to demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Technical
•
At least 4 year working experience in Unix Server System and network related administration with acceptable knowledge { TCP/IP protocol, NTP, Hosts, DNS & DHCP, NIS , Telnet, Rlogin, FTP }
•
Deep understanding and working experience in HP-UX, SUN & Linux User Administration, File System Management and Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and RAID concepts in essential.
•
Experience in advance Unix administration task (File permission, print queues, security access management, user management)
•
Good working experience in backup solution ( HP Data Protector or HP Omniback or Veritas Netbackup) is essential
•
Good understanding of and working experience in installing Software and Operating Systems patches
•
Good understanding of high availability environments and working experience in clusters management in Unix Server environments
•
Good working experience in database administration, like startup and shutdown of databases, shrinking database transaction logs will be added advantage
•
Working experience in other Unix flavors beside HPUX ( Linux, Sun Solaris, AIX, Tru64 ) will be added advantage
•
Work experience in system performance capturing and tuning
